Actiontec launches FTTH-compatible pair-bonded VDSL2 home routers
OCTOBER 25, 2010 — Actiontec Electronics has introduced two new pair-bonded VDSL2 routers to its portfolio of IPTV residential gateways. The V2000H and Q2000 routers have been built to support high-bandwidth triple-play services, including HD video/IPTV and voice over IP.Both IPTV routers support pair-bonded and single-line VDSL2 and single-line ADSL2+. The routers also feature an “Auto Fallback to ADSL 2+/2” function that lets providers deploy the same device on older networks. In addition to DSL support, the V2000H also is equipped with a 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet WAN port for fiber to the home (FTTH) applications. The multiple architecture support enables carriers and broadband providers to use the same CPE across all their deployment regions, including FTTH, fiber to the node (FTTN), and fiber to the premises (FTTP) architectures. “Universal flexibility is a key theme in our CPE strategy,” said Brian Henrichs, chief business development officer at Actiontec Electronics. “We believe in building products that can be seamlessly used across different territories and different network topologies, today and tomorrow. Our collaboration with leading service providers confirms that this approach yields significant operational savings.”Both routers feature echnology o upport triple play applications, including:high-speed etwork interfaces;robust memory architecture;onded VDSL technology for improved bit rates and reach. Both routers also feature an enhanced wireless N radio and a built-in Gigabit Ethernet switch for speeds up to 1000 Mbps, says Actiontec. In addition, the V2000H supports the latest HomePNA (HPNA) technology.Optional support for Java Virtual Machine and Java Runtime Software enable the V2000H and Q2000 to host a number of Java applications, such as home automation and enhanced security. Applications can be instantly enabled as soon as they’re ordered (similar to a mobile app experience), rather than requiring a lengthy full-scale firmware update or other cumbersome process, Actiontec asserts. The V2000H and Q2000 also support TR-069 remote management capabilities to enable technical support staff to remotely troubleshoot customer problems without a home visit.
