Bijou Telephone Cooperative taps ADTRAN for broadband expansion
SEPTEMBER 29, 2010 — ADTRAN Inc. (NASDAQ:ADTN) says that Bijou Telephone Cooperative of eastern Colorado has selected ADTRAN’s Total Access 5000 Multi-Service Access and Aggregation Platform (MSAP) to extend broadband and POTS to underserved rural areas. “When we began to look at solutions for broadband expansion and POTS delivery into rural areas, the Total Access 5000 was the obvious choice,” said Reed Metzger, general manager, Bijou Telephone Cooperative. “It not only lets us roll out broadband DLC applications in a way that uniquely suits our network needs, but it also future-proofs our network, allowing us to transition to next-generation services such as fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) all from the same platform and without a forklift upgrade keeping our total cost of ownership low.” “We are pleased to strengthen our long-standing relationship with Bijou Telephone Cooperative,” said P. Steven Locke, vice president of sales, service providers, ADTRAN. “The Total Access 5000 is the latest addition to a long list of ADTRAN solutions in use with this service provider. Bijou is already seeing the operational and economic benefits of ADTRAN solutions in its transport and mobile backhaul networks. Now, they are going to experience those same benefits in the access network.”
