Draka Comteq Assigned Patent
ALEXANDRIA, Va., Dec. 26 — Draka Comteq, Amsterdam, The Netherlands, has been assigned a patent (8,081,853) developed by Bob J. Overton, Lenoir, N.C., for “single-fiber drop cables for MDU deployments.”
The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: “Disclosed is an improved optical fiber that employs a novel coating system. When combined with a bend-insensitive glass fiber, the novel coating system according to the present invention yields an optical fiber having exceptionally low losses. The coating system features (i) a softer primary coating with excellent low-temperature characteristics to protect against microbending in any environment and in the toughest physical situations and, optionally, (ii) a colored secondary coating possessing enhanced color strength and vividness. The improved coating system provides optical fibers that offer significant advantages to single-fiber drop cables, such as those employed for Multiple Dwelling Unit (MDU) applications.”

I have really learned newer and more effective things as a result of your site. One other thing I’d like to say is that newer computer operating systems tend to allow far more memory to use, but they also demand more memory space simply to perform.
