Koninklijke Philips Electronics NV Files Patent Application for Fibre-optic Probe

New Delhi, Dec. 29 — Netherlands based Koninklijke Philips Electronics NV filed patent application for fibre-optic probe. The inventors are Bose Rantham Prabhakara Jagadeesh Chandra, Naik Sarif Kumar and Rath Satish Prasad.

Koninklijke Philips Electronics NV filed the patent application on July 16, 2010. The patent application number is 4493/CHENP/2010 A. The international classification number is G01N 21/64. According to the Controller General of Patents, Designs & Trade Marks, “A fibre-optic probe that minimizes the overlap between excitation light and collected light in an optical spectroscopy system is hereby disclosed. The fibre-optic probe comprises an illumination fibre having a length and a tip proximal to a target, wherein the illumination fibre is configured to conduct light from a light source to the target. The fibre-optic probe also includes at least one collection fibre having a slanted end proximal to the target, wherein the collection fibre is configured to conduct light away from the target.
