Optical Cable Corporation, is a manufacturer of fiber optic cables primarily sold into the enterprise market, and the manufacturer of military ground tactical fiber optic cable for the United States Military. The Company sells its products worldwide for uses ranging from commercial and campus installations to customized products for specialty applications and harsh environments, including military applications. Its tight-buffered fiber optic cables are used for high-bandwidth transmission of data, video and audio communications. The enterprise market, into which the Company sells, includes local area network (LAN) and premises markets. Its fiber optic cables can be used in various other short- to moderate-distance applications as well. On May 30, 2008, Optical Cable Corporation acquired Superior Modular Products Incorporated, doing business as SMP Data Communications.
