SkyLine Telephone Membership Corp. wins BTOP monies, selects Allied Telesis for FTTH infrastructure
SkyLine Telephone Membership Corp., having secured $29 million Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP) grants and loans, has selected Allied Telesisto supply Gigabit fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) access infrastructure to deliver broadband Internet, video, and voice services. SkyLine has previously employed Allied Telesis–a provider of IP/Ethernet access solutions for network service provider, enterprise, and government networks–for residential FTTH Triple Play service deployments. SkyLine will install approximately 900 miles of new fiber, expanding FTTH for Triple Play services to targeted, rural communities in Ashe and Alleghany counties in North Carolina, as well as in Johnson County, Tenn. SkyLine will deploy the Allied Telesis iMAP 9810 (integrated Multiservice Access Platform) and iMG 726BD (intelligent Multiservice Gateway) to provide Gigabit FTTH services. SkyLine relies on the Allied Telesis AlliedView Network Management System (NMS) to perform auto-provisioning and critical management functions, enabling the NMS to support rapid service provisioning along with a number of tiered service options for a competitive advantage, says a representative. Greater efficiency also can be gained, via a centralized management platform.
